Aaron has spent a number of years as a layman working with groups and individuals who are working on their sex addiction recovery. This experience as well as his own journey in recovery made a powerful impact on him and were major motivating factors in deciding to pursue an advanced degree and specialized training sex addiction.
Aaron views addiction as a progressive, chronic, and terminal disease that not only robs people of the joys life can bring but can also lead to serious life consequences. He views recovery as a process that includes a commitment to reality and honesty, uncovering the roots of how and why one became addicted, understanding one’s own needs, and being true to oneself. He follows task-oriented steps in this process that are based on Patrick Carnes’ works including Facing the Shadow. Aaron is compassionate and empathetic with his clients, understanding that sex addiction recovery is difficult, often scary, and requires help from others. He is committed to helping his clients achieve recovery and will work hard to provide and to connect you with the services and support you need to fight the disease of addiction.
