Emily Long MS, LPC Intern

Emily Long is a Licensed Professional Counselor Intern under the supervision
of Terri Gonzales-Ball, Ph.D. Emily earned her Master of Science degree in
Counseling from the University of North Texas, where she received specialty
training in Play Therapy and Child Parent Relationship Training. She has
experience working with children, adolescents, parents, and adults with
various mental health conditions and life challenges, including depression,
anxiety, self-injury, and codependency. She has experience working with
trauma and parenting challenges relating to domestic violence at Hope’s Door
New Beginnings Center in Collin County.

Emily believes that every person has within them the ability to live a
healthy and fulfilling life, but that people can lose sight of this ability
due to life’s struggles. She strives to create a warm, compassionate, and
genuine environment in which clients of all ages can rediscover the core of
who they really are and get back on the path to mental, physical, emotional,
and spiritual wellness. Emily recognizes that each person is unique and
works with each client’s individual needs to support them in their personal
growth. She takes a developmental and holistic approach with adults, teens,
and children in order to meet each person where they are on their journey.

“My mission is to help each client become the hero of their own story, to
identify obstacles that may arise on their path, and to empower them to
navigate these obstacles effectively. Within play therapy, my goal is to
help children build self-esteem and learn to express emotions in healthy
ways through their natural language of play, as well as empower parents to
support and nurture their children’s growth at home.”
