Nick Overbeck MS, LPC, LCDC

Nick graduated from the University of North Texas with a Master’s degree in Counseling and is both a Licensed Professional Counselor Intern and Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor. Nick has nearly a decade of experience in mental health including college counseling, trauma informed treatment, career counseling, suicide prevention, crisis intervention, addiction treatment, promoting mental/emotional wellness in working professionals, and working with loved ones of those affected by addiction and/or mental illness.

As a counselor, Nick believes that therapy is about collaboration. Every individual that seeks help has a different culture, religion, outlook on life, upbringing, strengths, and overall experience that makes them and their story unique; there is no such thing as a one-size-fits-all treatment. His clinical approach involves working together to form new, healthier habits, ways of thinking, and strategies to cope with life in more meaningful ways. He utilizes techniques borrowed from cognitive behavioral therapy, solution-focused therapy, and trauma informed care. Additionally, Nick believes that humor, laughter, and establishing a sense of joy and fun in our lives help us to reconnect to who we truly are and want to become.

When our fears, secrets, and distress grows over time and we have no outlet to let them out and begin to work through them, our feelings and thoughts become overwhelming and eventually, leave us feeling isolated, fed up, angry, anxious, and drained. Nick believes and knows you are not alone and the work he does revolves around working through and healing from the chaos and self-doubt in our lives.
